Assessing Climate impacts on the Quantity and quality of WAter

Since 2000 ARPAVDA is also involved in studying and monitoring climate change effects on alpine environments. More in detail, in the domain of climate change effects, ARPAVDA carries out activities focused on:

• glaciers: mass balance, glacier melting modelling;
• snow: SWE modelling and distribution;
• permafrost distribution and permafrost degradation monitoring in steep alpine rock faces and more gentle slopes;
• vegetation phenology monitoring, by remotely sensed data and phenological models, and its variation caused by climate change.

Umberto Morra di Cella holds a university degree in Forestry Science (1999). He works on monitoring the effects of climate change on alpine environments.

Edoardo Cremonese holds a university degree in Environmental Science (2003). He works on monitoring the effects of climate change on alpine environments.
