Center for Advanced Studies in Arid Zones (CEAZA)
Center for Advanced Studies in Arid Zones
This is a specialized institution for the study of the aridification of desert and semi-desert regions of Chile, that will be associated with the Aconcagua Basin case-study area.
Active in a number of research fields from climate to hydrology through agriculture, CEAZA has a glaciological unit that will contribute to both the investigation of the melt regime in the glaciers of the Aconcagua basin and to the analysis of regional climatic models outputs. Through CEAZA the project will benefit of a local support and a contact to stakeholders of the Aconcagua river basin.
Vincent Favier, PhD in Meteorology, has large experience in the measurement and analysis of the surface energy balance of snow and glaciers, and is currently working on the validation of regional climatic models using in situ measurements.
